The hillside is starting to look like a spot for a concert with work moving full steam ahead in recent weeks with a stretch of good weather to keep crews on site, and it is likely going to be ready to go for a fall opening for the new Amphitheater along the Euharlee Creek in Downtown Rockmart.
Crews were pushing forward on Monday morning to get the steel supports for the covered stage area and supports for speakers and lighting setup, while others have been working to prepare the hillside for the amphitheater style seating that will provide a bowl for local residents to sit and enjoy shows in the near future.
The project spearheaded by the City of Rockmart has been in the making for several years, and began with a parking area in 2020 that also gave additional access to Seaborn Jones Park and the Silver Comet Trail for residents and visitors alike. After grant funding finally was made available and bids came in, the work began earlier this summer to prepare the site and setup the concrete pad for the stage.

They’ll still have to add some facilities like concessions and restrooms before the project is fully complete, but much of the concrete work that will form the hillside seating section of the amphitheater will be taking shape in the days to come.
Fortunately for the city, the long awaited project is primed to become a major spot in the city to enjoy concerts, plays and other outdoor events utilizing the full area of the park and Church Street Manor in the process.
Check back for additional updates as they become available.
