Mr. Arthur Jackson “Jack” Lindsey

Mr. Arthur Jackson “Jack” Lindsey, age 92, of Cedartown passed away Monday, December 16, 2024.

Mr. Lindsey was born in Cedartown, Georgia on April 19, 1932, son of the late A.T. Lindsey and Lula Bell Lindsey. 

Mr. Lindsey proudly served the United States of America in the United States Air Force.

He had a lengthy career in the lab at Inland Paper Mills for 42 years and genuinely enjoyed his job there. Mr. Lindsey was a devoted Christian and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church and loved reading his Bible. Mr. Lindsey was a loving husband and found much joy in living. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lindsey is preceded in death by sisters, Lucy E. Muller, and Lottie L. Pendley; brother, William Jesse Lindsey; and first wife, Maxie Watson Lindsey. 

Mr. Lindsey is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Lela Liner Lindsey; children, Phillip David Lindsey (Linda), and Missy Hall (Casey); brothers, Herbert N. Lindsey (Wanda) of Rome, Georgia, and Herman Wayne Lindsey (Annette) of Muscadine, Alabama; sister, Patsy L. English (Bill) of Kennesaw, Georgia; and six grandchildren. 

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Lindsey will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Tucker and Reverend Barry Snapp officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard. 

Mr. Lindsey’s family will receive friends, also on Thursday at Smith & Miller Funeral Home, from 12:00 PM until the service hour. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Brandy Brady, Chris Barker, Henry “Sonny” Newton, Terry Lewallen, Tripp Barker, and Steve Holcomb. 

Flowers are welcomed or you may make a donation in his honor to Victory Baptist Church, 15 Hendrix Road, Rockmart, Georgia 30153.

Mrs. Eva Ruth Gibson Short

Mrs. Eva Ruth Gibson Short, age 82, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025.

She was born on February 19, 1943 in Cherokee, Alabama.  She was the daughter of the late John Hubert and Eula Adell Lockridge Gibson. 

Mrs. Short is survived by her sons, John Short (Mary) and Brad Short; grandchildren, Matt Bridges, Kayla Bridges, Katie Swafford (Drew) and Emma Hellriegel (Jake); great-grandchildren, Josie, Bo, Ella Ruth and Case Swafford and Chloe Hellriegel and nieces and nephews; and several other extended family members. 

Mrs. Short is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Edward Short; daughter, Karen Denise Short Bridges; sisters, Louise Liner and Mary Frances Corn and brothers, Herbert Gibson and Wayne Gibson. 

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Short will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at one o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Kyle Camp officiating.  Interment will follow in the family lot of Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.   

The family of Mrs. Short will receive family and friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from eleven o’clock in the morning until the funeral service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Bill Short, Sam Short, Dennis Alexander, Drew Swafford, Jake Hellriegel, Zack Alexander and Jay Liner.
