Mrs. Barbara Jean Shorrt Moore

Mrs. Barbara Jean Shortt Moore, age 93, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday evening, September 19, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Moore was born in Hopewell, VA, on November 11, 1930, daughter of the late William Bryant Shortt and Bertha Minix Shortt.

She lived her childhood years in Virginia before moving to Georgia. Mrs. Moore lived in Rome and Marietta prior to moving to Rockmart in 1987.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Shorter College and was a school teacher in Cherokee County for over 20 years. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Moore was a minister’s wife who loved to read and enjoyed music.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Howard Albert Moore, on April 4, 2024, whom she married on June 8, 1956.

Mrs. Moore is survived by two children, Barbara Alisha Moore Cole (Mel), of Kansas City, MO, and Michael Howard Moore (Vicki), of Kingston, GA; two grandchildren, Tyler Moore (Amanda) and Jason Michael Moore (Jennifer); four great-grandchildren, Ryan Tyler Moore, Hadley Jo Ann Moore, Lainey Brooks Moore and Noah Robert Moore.

In keeping with her wishes Mrs. Moore will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

Mr. Jack Howard Davis

Mr. Jack Howard Davis, age 86, of Douglasville, GA, passed away Friday morning, January 16, 2026, at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held on Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home. His son, Michael Davis will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery.

Mr. Davis’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
