Wayne was born August 8, 1947 in Rockmart, Georgia, son of the late H.E. Wilkes and Bobby Kiser Wilkes.
Mr. Wilkes was proud to be a Shriner. He had many hobbies and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed trout fishing, camping, riding horses, snowmobiling, and traveling. He was very gifted at restoring trucks and cars.
He was in the floor covering business for sixty three years, and was the proud owner of Wilkes Installations. His presence will be missed in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Cecil Wilkes and Kenneth “Red” Wilkes.
Wayne is survived by his children: Tina Vollrath (Donald), Steven Wilkes (Tammy), and Michael Wilkes (Tia), and stepson, Scott Porterfield (Lee Ann); grandchildren: Shannon Queen (Isaac), Brandon McAlister (Hadley), Gary Wilkes (Dakota), Hailey Molargik (Anthony), Johnathan Wilkes (Katherine), Lily Porterfield, and Hayden Long; great grandchildren: Elizabeth Taylor, Dexter Taylor, Rex Taylor, Finley McAlister, Eason McAlister, Zander Wilkes, Everet Wilkes, Grayson Molargik, and Anthony Molargik; his loving companion, Brenda Stanfield; mother of his children, Jeanett Wade, and mother of his stepson, Linda Myers.
Formal services will be announced at a later time.

Mr. Johnny G. Garrett, age 79, of Rockmart, GA passed away at his home on Thursday, March 5, 2026, following an extended illness surrounded by family.
Johnny was born October 4, 1946, in Rockmart, GA, to the late Rev. Lawrence & Vivian Garrett.
On December 25, 1965, he married Faye Roberson and was blessed with 50 years of marriage. Having three sons; Mark (Donna) Garrett, Timothy (Tammy) Garrett, Matthew (Jessica) Garrett all of Rockmart. Grandchildren; Zachary (Karyl) Garrett, Elyse (Joey) Beck, Griffin (Emily) Garrett, Brady (Sydney) Garrett, Maggie Lawren Garrett and Gant Garrett. Great-grandchildren include Bella, Porter and Rosalie Garrett, Zoella and Scarlett Beck, Lyla Faye Garrett and Greer Garrett. Sisters; Martha (Max) Barber, Joyce (Tommy) Cooper, sister-in-law, Glenda Garrett. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife Faye, his parents Lawrence & Vivian Garrett, and brother Charles G. Garrett
Johnny graduated from Rockmart High School, class of 1964.
He was a faithful and active member of Morning View Baptist Church. He loved his church and was fully dedicated to his Christian service. He served as Deacon, Ready Workers Sunday School Class Teacher, choir member, and in the past served in many other capacities. He was a charter member of National Cattleman’s Beef Association, Member of Polk County Cattlemen, Georgia Angus Association, American Angus Association and Georgia Cattleman’s Association.

Johnny’s favorite past time was soul winning, painting, studying his Bible and spending time outside on his farm cutting grass and keeping the farm groomed. Johnny was a partner in Lawrence G. Garrett & Sons General Contractors and he was a licensed Architect for residential, commercial and church construction projects. He is currently owner of Buy Low Building Supply, Inc. located in Rockmart, GA.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon March 8th, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Monday morning, March 9th, 2026, at 10:00 am at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating.
Pallbearers will include Zach Garrett, Griffin Garrett, Brady Garrett, Gant Garrett, Porter Garrett, Joey Beck, Donald Lester, Thomas Lester, Gary Ingram and Chris Cooper

Honorary pallbearers will include The Ready Workers Sunday School Class and Deacons of Morning View Baptist Church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts can be made to Morning View Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Morning View Christmas Shoppe and Children’s Church to be equally divided.
