Two people have been injured in a house explosion this evening in Cedartown, per officials.

One individual is being transported by life flight to an area hospital. No word on the seriousness of injuries for either individual at this time.

Officials reiterated there is no threat to public health or safety due to the explosion.

They are asking people to avoid the area while emergency efforts are being undertaken at the scene of Vines and Chestnut.

A home near the intersection of Vine Street at Chestnut Street in Cedartown has blown up, per Cedartown officials this evening.

Emergency personnel are on the scene. Officials said there may be injuries involved with those on the scene, but did not have any further information at this time.

No immediate public threat is present at this time. The explosion is not being treated as criminal in nature, per Cedartown Police.

Officials believe the explosion might have been caused by a work-related accident.
