Mrs. Carolyn E. Wallace

Mrs. Carolyn E. Garrett Wallace, age 94, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  

She was born on July 6, 1929 in Cedartown. She was the daughter of the late Everett and Daisey Jones Garrett.   

Mrs. Wallace is preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick Bevel; daughter-in-law, Sue Bevel; son-in-law, Wayne Baines; granddaughter, Kristina Short; three sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by her husband of 42 years, Stanley Wallace; children, Phil Bevel (Diane), Greg Bevel, Eddie Bevel (Deborah), Rita Sams (Ricky), Cheryl Frasier (Mark), Melanie Baines, Stanley Wallace, Jr. (Becky), Kenneth Wallace, and Billy Wallace (Debbie); brother, Arthur Garrett; daughter-in-law, Peggy Wright; 21 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service for Mrs. Wallace will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at three o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Olin L Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Bevel, Pastor Terry Sims, and Pastor Mark Purser officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

The family of Mrs. Wallace will receive family and friends on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from one o’clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Van Bevel, Micky Bevel, Justin Oxenrider, Kaleb Ray, Hayden Short, Phillip Youngblood, and Brandon Bevel.

Obituaries

Mr. Larry “Bushwacker” Brown, age 66, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Larry was born in Cedartown, Georgia, to the late J.C. Brown and Betty Garrett Brown, on August 15, 1959.

He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. In his free time, he found joy in the simple things—riding the back roads, singing karaoke with friends, and spending time working on cars. He also had a love for music, often picking up a guitar and playing for those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Jimmy Brown; nephews, Kevin Brown and Kenneth Brown; long-time friend, Jerone Jackson.

Larry is survived by his children Keith Brown (Alisha), Daniel Brown (Lindsey Reece), and Jadya Brown; twelve grandchildren; brother, Terry Brown (Diane Glover); sister-in-law, Belinda Brown. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Services for Larry “Bushwacker” Brown will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Justin Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Piedmont, Alabama.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
