Mr. Carter “Casey” Loyd Jones

Mr. Carter “Casey” Loyd Jones, age 61, of Taylorsville, GA passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024.

Born on April 11, 1962, in Limestone, Maine, Casey graduated from Palmetto High School in South Fulton, County, GA.

He traveled throughout his childhood being a part of a military family and had lived his adult life in Georgia. He was a respected former EMT at Grady Hospital and firefighter with Palmetto Fire Department. Casey was also known for his skills as an electrician and was the proud owner and operator of his BBQ restaurant.

In addition to his impressive career accomplishments, Casey had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He had a deep love for horses and enjoyed spending time riding them. In fact, he even participated as a bull rider in the rodeo circuit.

Casey was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Vonzelle Jones; and wife, Bonnie Jones.

He is survived by his loving children Heather (Russ) Mines and Luke (Jessie) Jones; Casey adored being a grandfather to his four precious grandchildren, Noah Hidi, Alexander Hidi, Katherine Hidi, and Carter Jones. Their laughter brought him immense joy, and he treasured every opportunity he had to spend time with them.

He is remembered fondly by his mother, Joan McCoy Sindt; brothers Scott Jones and Brad Sindt; his sisters Heather Jones, Kari (Joe) Winter, and Robin (Jamie) Campbell; as well as his uncles Jimmy Jones, Carlos Jones, Don McCoy, and Dave McCoy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Casey’s life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at The Store located at 10 Euharlee Street, Taylorsville, GA 30178. The event will begin at 1:00 pm  and continue until 4:00 pm. This will be a time for family and friends to come together, share stories, and honor the memory of Mr. Jones.

Mrs. Nancy Ruth Gentry, age 78, of Adairsville, GA, passed away Monday evening, November 10, 2025.

Mrs. Gentry was born on December 26, 1946, to the late Otis Leman “Tobe” Grant and the late Lula Belle Edwards Grant.

Nancy’s working career included employment with Aragon Mills and Muzzy’s, and she later served as a medical technician at Renaissance Marquis before retiring. In her free time, she loved fishing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Phillips H. Gentry, her daughter, Phyllis Kaye Gentry; and her 3 brothers, Billy Grant, Jerry Grant, and Jimmy Grant.

She is survived by her daughters Hope Uitermark and Stacey (Brent) Ledford; her grandchildren, Celia (Doug) Hall, Wade (Renee) Ledford, Adam (Hayley) Bell, and Erin Bell; greatgrandchildren, Kipton Hall, Harper Hall, Ava Bell, Gunner Bell, Peyton Ledford, Stryker Lewis, Jackson Higdon, and Cooper Higdon; her sister, Joyce Ward; sister-in-law Joan Paulus; brother-in-law, Jackie (Shirley) Gentry; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gentry and Rev. Jesse Starnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brent Ledford, Wade Ledford, Adam Bell, Doug Hall, Kipton Hall, and Bobby Cartledge. Honorary pallbearers include Stryker Lewis, Gunner Bell, Ava Bell, Harper Hall, and Peyton Ledford.
