Mrs. Cathy Powell Smith

Mrs. Cathy Powell Smith, age 68 of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.  

She was born on June 1, 1956 in Cedartown.  She was the daughter of the late Charles Van Powell Sr., and Frances Cleo Moncrief Powell. 

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Aaron Smith; sister, Kay Ayer (Richard); brother, Van Powell (Jeannene); nieces and nephews, Jake Ayer (Kayla), Hunter Ayer (Sarra), Raven Ayer Holbrook (Crews), Madison Odom Rogers (Austin), Leah Brandon, Kara Lawrence (Steve), Brad Tracy, Carrie Powell Graham (Kevin), Cody Powell, Kristie Mullen Golden (Travis), Jeremy Mullen (Whitney), and Scott Smith (Lynn); and several other great nieces and nephews and other extended family members. 

Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sherry Tracy.  

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Smith will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at twelve o’clock in the afternoon at The Cedartown Church of Christ with minister Ed Lee and minister Ernie Maiwald officiating.  Interment will follow in the family lot of the Northview Cemetery. 

The family of Mrs. Smith will receive family and friends on Friday, February 7, 2025 from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jake Ayer, Hunter Ayer, Richard Ayer, Jim Mullen, Crews Holbrook, and Jeff Truitt.

Floyd Earl Anderson Jr.

Floyd Earl Anderson Jr., age 70, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday afternoon, January 19, 2026.

Mr. Anderson was born in Cedartown, Georgia, on December 27, 1955, a son of the late Floyd Anderson, Sr. and Dorothy Faye Milam Anderson.

He spent the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith. After 36 years of dedicated service, Mr. Anderson retired from Meggitt, where he was known for his strong work ethic and loyalty. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.  Above all, Mr. Anderson was a devoted family man who cherished time with those he loved. He had a deep love for music and found joy in playing the guitar, and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Anderson.

Mr. Anderson is survived by two sons, Jonathan (Cheri) Anderson, and Jesse (Jessica) Anderson; two sisters, Kathy (Larry) Grimes, and Vickie Polston; brother, Terry Shores. Eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held on Thursday afternoon, January 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Shores officiating.

Mr. Anderson’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
