Mr. Charles Warren Smith III

Mr. Charlie Warren Smith III, age 51, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025.

Charlie was born March 31, 1973, in Ringgold, Georgia, son of the late Charlie Smith Jr. and the late Janice Elaine Ratcliff.

Charlie enjoyed spending time outdoors working in his garden and farming. He loved to cook for family and friends as a way to show his love.

Always caring for others, Charlie worked for twenty years at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Above all, Charlie loved his family. His life left a lasting impact on all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ralph and Erline Witting, and Charlie W. Smith, Sr. and Willie Butler Smith; several aunts and uncles; father-in-law, John Andrew Crocker; and sister-in-law, Anita Matsko.

Charlie is survived by his husband, John Christopher “Chris” Crocker; stepfather, Joe Ratcliff; mother-in-law, Linda Bird and stepfather-in-law, Buford Bird; stepdaughters, Elisha Pittman and her husband, Austin, and Chelsea Crocker; and grandchildren: Avery Farmer, Ryder Pittman, Rowan Pittman, Rylei Pittman, Knox Worley, and Truett Worley. He is also survived by his siblings: Rhonda Smith, Jessica Smith, Miranda Chitwood, Randy Smith, James Ratcliff, and Tracy Maish; brothers-in-law: John Crocker, James Crocker, Roger Crocker, and Timothy Crocker and his wife, Barbie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private burial service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in Sanders Cemetery.

Mrs. Lela Ann Parris

Mrs. Lela Ann Parris, age 88, passed away Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026.

Mrs. Parris was born on September 21, 1937, in Montgomery, AL daughter of the late Barney Hood and Augusta Pyron Hood, and had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart.

She was a devoted housewife and homemaker and a member of Morning View Baptist Church. Mrs. Parris enjoyed playing bingo and loved baseball, especially cheering on the Atlanta Braves. She was also a fan of professional wrestling and enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parris was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Parris, daughters, Brenda Coats and Andrea Howard, son, Tim Parris, grandsons, Kevin Howard and James Screws, and great-granddaughters, J’Mea Bryant and A’Nya Bryant.

Mrs. Parris is survived by two sons, Steve Parris (Shelia) and Mike Parris (Patricia). Eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parris will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park.

Mrs. Parris’ family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Jeff Howard, Brandon Gentry, Jason Parris, Kristopher Sewell, Trevor Boothe, and Caleb Boothe.
