Mrs. Clara Mae Ingram McDowell, age 88, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025.
Mrs. McDowell was born on June 5, 1937, in Marietta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Clarence Thomas Ingram and Evelyn McPherson Ingram.
She spent the greater part of her life in Polk County and was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church, where she found joy in volunteering.
Mrs. McDowell loved shopping, gardening, and tending to her yard, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDowell was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Wayne Barnes, and Ronald Steve “Ronnie” Barnes, Sr., a brother, Tommy Ingram, Jr., and a sister, Kathy Plemmons.
Mrs. McDowell is survived by a son, James Allen (Judy) Barnes, III; a daughter, Robin Erickson; nine grandchildren, Kristy Barnes, Steve Barnes, Kevin Barnes, Erick Erickson, George Erickson, Evelyn Erickson, Adam Erickson, Stacy Arp, and Keith Arp; four sisters, Margaret Rakestraw, Jean Drake, Mary Croft, and Carol Davis; three brothers, Johnny Ingram, Larry Ingram, and Dennis Ingram. Several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. McDowell will be held on Friday afternoon, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Vines and Rev. Barry Snapp officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. McDowell’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
