Mr. Clyde William Runyon

Mr. Clyde William Runyon, age 81, of Cedartown, passed away, Monday, July 21, 2025.

Mr. Runyon was born May 15, 1944, in Cedartown, Georgia, son of the late Tom Runyon and Pauline Hampton Runyon.

Mr. Runyon spent the entirety of his life in Polk County, Georgia. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Runyon was a hardworking individual, having worked at the Jockey Plant in Cedartown, Georgia for twenty-five years. After working for Jockey, he would then go on to have a fulfilling career at Goodyear in Cartersville, Georgia for twelve years. He finished his working career after working for Jefferson Southern for two years.

Mr. Runyon was a dedicated supporter of the Rockmart High School football team for over sixty years. He showed his support by attending almost every game, both at home and away.

Mr. Runyon loved the outdoors and always enjoyed afternoons spent fishing. Having grown up in a large family, he deeply valued the importance of family throughout his life. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife, Carole, and a devoted and caring father and grandfather.

Mr. Runyon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Runyon is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carole Howard Runyon; brothers: Floyd Runyon, and Johnny Ray Runyon; and sister, Barbara Runyon.

Mr. Runyon is survived by his children: Nick Ellis Runyon, and Kimberly Lynn Runyon; and dearly loved granddaughter, Sofie Caroline Runyon. Additionally, he is survived by six sisters: Mallene Trawick, Martha Coley and her husband, Raymond, Dean Hicks, Sue Greve, Charlotte Cox and her husband, Ray, and Ellen Lee and her husband, Warren; and two brothers: Roy Runyon and his wife, Renee, and Reed Runyon and his wife, Donna.

Funeral services to honor his life will be held Friday, July 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Reverend Anthony Trawick and Reverend Robert Wright officiating.

Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Runyon’s family will receive friends, also on Friday at the funeral home, from 1:00 PM until the service hour.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of the Rockmart High School football team; and lifelong friends: Jerry Camp, Floyd Barber, and Robert Wright.

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham, age 64, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday afternoon, February 6, 2026.

Al was born in Rome, GA on July 24, 1961, to the late Billy Statham and Margaret Mitchell Statham. He spent his entire life in Polk County and was a graduate of Rockmart High School, Class of 1979.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing softball, but most of all, his greatest joy was watching his granddaughter play softball. He had his special place at the end of his fence where he loved watching Kiley play. He also enjoyed shooting pool with Braidyn and loved working outside.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his nephew, Seth Hitchcock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kris Statham, to whom he married on March 20, 1982; his daughter, Hannah (Corey) Price; 3 grandchildren, Kiley Statham, Braidyn Statham, and Brian Bowman; his brothers, Phil (Loye) Statham, Mickey (Jerri) Statham; and his sister, Patricia (Eldon) Watts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Statham will be Monday, February 9, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Jones officiating and eulogies given by Kiley Statham, Braiden Statham, and Mark Gray.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
