Mr. Dennis James Moncrief

Mr. Dennis James Moncrief, age 67, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2025.

Dennis was born in Cedartown, GA, on October 6, 1957, son of the late George Moncrief, Jr., and Willie Jo Bates Moncrief.

He had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was a member of Morning View Baptist Church. Dennis retired from GEO Specialty Chemicals after 35 years of service.

He loved racing and cherished his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and honorary grandchildren to whom he was known as Paw Paw.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Moncrief, a grandson, Kevin James Tipton, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Tina White Moncrief; children, April Reitz, Tommy Vasser, Amber (Bo) Hopkins, Keisha McCormick, Paul (Heather) Hughes, and Rayven Greene; grandchildren, Levi (Brianna) Tipton, Laylia Bennett, Matthew Hopkins, Carson Hughes, Kaydlin Hughes, Toby McCormick, and Jameson Hughes; great-grandchildren, Kolton Tipton, Emory Hopkins, and Nova Tipton. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Dennis will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Smith and Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating.

Dennis’ family will receive friends Saturday at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Dennis’ memory to Children’s Health Care of Atlanta.

Mr. Johnny “Mike” Whitfield

Mr. Johnny “Mike” Whitfield, age 77, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026.  

He was born on March 27, 1948. He was the son of the late John Parker Whitfield and Edith Ann Whitfield Willingham. 

Mr. Whitfield is survived by his son, Brian Whitfield and several other extended family members. 

Mr. Whitfield is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renee Willingham Whitfield and brother, Howard Glenn Whitfield. 

A graveside service for Mr. Whitfield will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the family lot in Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Danny Tucker officiating.
