Doug Weaver

Doug Weaver, age 65, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday evening, April 5, 2026, at his residence.

Doug was born in Rockmart, GA, on November 2, 1960, the son of the late Calvin Eugene Weaver and Dorothy Fay Bright Weaver. He was a lifelong resident of Polk County and a 1978 graduate of Rockmart High School. Doug spent much of his life in Aragon before moving to Rockmart in 2007.

He was employed with Seaboard Coast Line Railroad before dedicating over 29 years of service to MARTA. Following his retirement, Doug continued his work ethic with the City of Rockmart in the Public Works Department.

Doug was an avid fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed hunting and traveling to the mountains. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandson.

In addition to his mother and father, Doug was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dewight Campbell, and a nephew, Jason Campbell.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of almost 19 years, Stacey Locklear Weaver, whom he married April 18, 2007; son, Zach Weaver (Amanda); grandson, Zacary Weaver; sister, Belinda Campbell; nephew, Brent Campbell.

Funeral services for Doug will be held on Friday afternoon, April 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Edward officiating. Doug’s son, Zach will deliver the eulogy.

Doug’s family will receive friends Friday at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made in Doug’s honor to the American Cancer Society.

Obituaries

Mr. Larry “Bushwacker” Brown, age 66, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Larry was born in Cedartown, Georgia, to the late J.C. Brown and Betty Garrett Brown, on August 15, 1959.

He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. In his free time, he found joy in the simple things—riding the back roads, singing karaoke with friends, and spending time working on cars. He also had a love for music, often picking up a guitar and playing for those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Jimmy Brown; nephews, Kevin Brown and Kenneth Brown; long-time friend, Jerone Jackson.

Larry is survived by his children Keith Brown (Alisha), Daniel Brown (Lindsey Reece), and Jadya Brown; twelve grandchildren; brother, Terry Brown (Diane Glover); sister-in-law, Belinda Brown. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Services for Larry “Bushwacker” Brown will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Justin Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Piedmont, Alabama.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
