Doyal Wayne Minter
January 1, 1946 – December 6, 2025

Doyal Wayne Minter was born on January 1, 1946, and passed peacefully at his home on December 6, 2025, at the age of 79.

He leaves behind a family and community forever changed by his love, kindness, and quiet faith. He was a great man, one who never met a stranger and was truly a friend to everyone he encountered.

There is truly not enough space, time, or paper to write everything Doyal did or to fully capture the purpose he carried in this world. He was one of the unheard-of and unseen heroes, the kind whose name may never be written down, yet whose impact is forever etched into the lives he touched. The changes he made in people’s lives will never be fully known, because he did not seek recognition. His influence lived in quiet acts of kindness, compassion, and faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Herman Minter Sr.; his mother, Bessie Bell Minter; his first wife, Fay Minter; his brothers, Robert David Minter and Robert Herman Minter Jr.; and his sisters, Bonnie Ruth Nichols, Mattie Imojean Nichols, and Lois Ann O’Neal.

Doyal is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Shirley Minter, whom he loved deeply and cared for faithfully. Together they shared a life built on love, commitment, and compassion. He is also survived by his daughter, Courtney Bates; his grandchildren, Chelsea Hughes and Corey “Bubba” Bates; and his cherished great-granddaughters, Alana Hughes and Ariah Hughes, who were the light of his life. Mr. Minter is additionally survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A loving husband, father, and “Pawpaw,” Doyal’s heart was as big as his smile. He loved like no other and would help anyone in need without hesitation. He leaves behind a legacy of memories marked by kindness, service, and unconditional love.

Above all, Doyal was living proof of what the love of Jesus can do. Through Christ, a broken man was made whole and transformed into a faithful follower. His life was a powerful testimony of humility, never seeking applause, always putting others before himself, and walking gently through this world with servant’s hands and a faithful heart.

Like a vital character in a story who is rarely mentioned but without whom the story could never unfold as it should, Doyal moved through life shaping outcomes and changing hearts without ever asking to be seen. And though the world may never fully know what he did, the lives he changed will forever testify to who he was and the purpose he fulfilled.

Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave so freely and the faith he lived by will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Funeral services for Mr. Minter will be conducted Wednesday December 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Doyle Rd. Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Vaughn and Pastor Kirby Moore officiating. A eulogy will be given by Richard Minter. Interment will follow in the Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday December 10 prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Doyle Rd. Baptist Church.
