Matt Lindsey

Matt Lindsey, age 45, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025, at his residence.

Matt was born in Rome, GA, on April 27, 1980, a son of Keith Lindsey and Marcia Payne Lindsey. Though he was born in Rome, his heart belonged to Rockmart, the place he proudly called home for all of his 45 years.

A 1998 graduate of Rockmart High School, Matt poured his energy and passion into everything he did. He was a dedicated athlete, excelling in football, baseball and wrestling, and he capped his senior year by becoming a State Champion, an achievement that reflected his determination, grit, and relentless spirit. He was a devoted fan of University of Georgia football, cheering on the Dawgs with the same enthusiasm he brought to every part of his life.

Matt had a deep love for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Music also held a special place in his heart. Whether he was listening to his favorite songs or strumming his guitar, it was one of the ways he expressed who he was.

But of all the things Matt loved, nothing brought him more joy or pride than watching his son, Dixon, play ball. Those moments cheering from the sidelines, offering encouragement, seeing his son grow were truly his greatest thrill and the memories he cherished the most.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents, James O. Payne, Bernice Turner Payne, Dorothy Wheeler, Robert Wheeler and Buddy Lindsey.

Matt is survived by his son, Dixon Lindsey; parents, Keith and Marcia Lindsey; brother, Drew (Samantha) Lindsey; sister, Maggie (Luc) Culver; nieces and nephew, Grady Lindsey, Ryleigh Lindsey, and Karli Culver; aunts and uncles, Jimmy and Julie Payne and Judy and Donald Fuqua. Several other aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Matt will be held on Friday evening, December 12, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jason Odom officiating.

Matt’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a scholarship fund for his son, Dixon Lindsey, at FirstBank of Rockmart.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Matt Lindsey.
