Shannon Goodson has been driving tow trucks for a long, long time. Nearly two decades of experience have given him about every chance to see vehicles stuck in strange places and simple jobs like hauling broken down wheels to the shop from a driveway.

Now he’s taking all that experience and going out on his own with the help of his family as he opened 4 Good Towing & Recovery for business in recent weeks.

Goodson, who with the help of his wife Lydia is operating the new business as a way to continue growing their family. She does a lot of the talking in the family, including about the couple’s goals for 4 Good Towing & Recovery.

“So 4 Good Towing was named naturally because we have 4 kids. Now that they are almost all grown we decided to raise something else, a business!” Lydia Goodson said. “We are building a future for our children and grandchild, one tow at a time.”

The duo has long been involved in the community in a variety of ways. Lydia continues her role at the Sheriff’s Office leading the Polk Re-Entry Program in the jail. Their kids have been involved in Rockmart sports, their time devoted to making the whole of Polk County a better place.

They hope the new business is among those opportunities to help the community with their services.

4 Good Towing & Recovery is already hauling away big loads to carry away from properties in Polk County.

“Our biggest goal is to provide our friends, neighbors and anyone traveling through with quality service,” Lydia said. “We’ve always worked hard to build our lives around trust, quality and respect. We’ll be doing the same every moment we go out to help people who are usually facing tough situations.”

The towing business based in Rockmart provides towing, recovery and lockout services to drivers who are in need of help, and are available 24/7 for roadside assistance.

4 Good Towing & Recovery is available for help at 404-989-8007.

Rockmart celebrates with ribbon cutting for new Amphitheater

It doesn’t have an official name yet, but local officials gathered earlier this week to celebrate the opening of a new outdoor performance space Polk County will get to enjoy thanks to the City of Rockmart’s work that spanned several years to complete.

Construction started last summer and wrapped up during the winter months, but now that spring has sprung it was finally time to cut the ribbon on the new Rockmart Amphitheater along Euharlee Creek sitting behind Church Street Manor. It sits catty-corner from Downtown Rockmart on the opposite bank as South Marble Street, bringing new opportunities for concerts, theatrical performances and more to the area.

The new attraction was built with a combined effort of grants and additional dollars to build the new venue and follows a trend with the butterfly-styled roof in new facilities – including Lankford Corner at the Silver Comet Trail events center in Downtown Cedartown.

The ribbon cutting saw not just Rockmart City Council, but also Polk County Commissioners join in the celebration during a Tuesday morning event.

The amphitheater’s first event was announced last week and is set to help Rockmart celebrate Georgia Cities Week on Tuesday, April 21 starting at 6 p.m.

Free hot dogs and drinks will provide a picnic-style dinner for families to enjoy along with the opportunity for kids to enjoy some fun with a Touch-A-Truck setup in the parking lot, and live music from Them Mixon Boys.
