Mr. Herman Ralph King

Mr. Herman Ralph King, age 91, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. King was born in Cobb County, GA, in the Blackwells community, on February 4, 1932, son of the late Carl Wayne King and Lou Aslee Deaver King.

He had been a resident of Rockmart since 2004, moving here from Wedowee, AL, and prior to that, he lived for a period of time in Hiram, GA.

Mr. King was a member of the Benedict Baptist Church. He had worked the early years of his life in a sawmill, later doing foundry work, then retired from Sonoco Products.

In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Carl King, two brothers, Robert King and Fred King, four sisters, Geraldine Wheeling, Irene League, Montene Curley, and Willie Mae McTaggart.

Mr. King is survived by his wife of 72 years, Hazel Annette Wheeling King, whom he married March 31, 1951; three children, Peggy King Williams (Randy) of Dallas, GA, Connie King of Rockmart, and Mark King (Carol) of Rockmart; six grandchildren, Lori, Brianna, Tyler, Austin, Brad, and Amy; brother, Lamar King of Smyrna, GA. Seven great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. King will be held Thursday afternoon, November 30, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Spradlin and Bro. Terry Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Mr. King’s family will receive friends Wednesday evening, November 29, 2023, at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Tyler King, Austin King, Mason Stanley, Brad Sweet, and Ryan Smith.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for Mr. Herman Ralph King.

Mr. Wayne McClelland

Mr. Wayne McClelland, age 75, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Mr. McClelland was born December 27, 1950, in Granite City, Illinois, son of Darwin Mueller and Lorene Woodard Mueller.

Mr. McClelland proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. His service fostered a lifelong commitment to supporting fellow veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he served disabled veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he advocated for veterans’ rights.

Mr. McClelland was passionate about his family and those who called him “Poppy.” He cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with them. Professionally, Mr. McClelland worked as an Oil Factory Blender for Troco Oil. Beyond his career, he enjoyed both woodworking and leatherworking as a hobby. He enjoyed old music and had a fondness for antique shopping.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McClelland is preceded in death by his wife, Vicki Miller McClelland; son, Jason Michael McClelland; and daughter, Courtney Owens (Eric).

Mr. McClelland is survived by his daughters, Brandi Azlin (John), and Sonni Kendall; grandchildren: Hannah Long (Vance), Haylee Griffin (Drew), Lemual Azlin (Brooke), Whitney Azlin, Sadie Burgess, Chase Burgess, Legend Owens, Journey Owens, Shooter Owens, Maverick Owens, Courtney Minter (Guy), Katie Minter (Landon), Cody Minter (Emily), and Bo Minter (Tori); great-grandchildren: Rhylee, Sawyer, Walker, Wade, Khalyla, Sophia, Ronan, Remington, Ben, Jessie, Johnny, Jackson, Heath, Slade, Mollie, Luke, and Millie; siblings: Roger Mueller (Michelle), Gary McClelland (Carol), and Brenda Underwood; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 4:00 PM, at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
