HOMETOWN PHOTO: Giddy-up! Horses corralled after herd escapes

Call it an attempted escape, or maybe just the herd needed to get out and stretch their legs.

Either way, horses (and a donkey) were able to escape on Saturday and made their way through to the Cedar Hill area where local residents came out hoping to help keep the group from wandering further off.

Local reader Jarod Moss shared the photos with Polk Today over the weekend of the herd wandering around the neighborhood around 1 p.m.

Cedartown Police got involved during the midday run, and took on the role as wranglers to corral the herd and keep them from getting out into heavy traffic.

Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome was able to report that the owners were tracked down and the horses and donkey were returned home safely.
