Mr. James Elmer “Jimmy” Bell

Mr. James Elmer “Jimmy” Bell, age 81, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, June 21, 2024.

Mr. Bell was born in Rome, GA on June 12, 1943, a son of the late Elmer Earl Bell and the late Mertice Clines Bell.

Lindale, GA was home for Jimmy for forty-seven years before moving to Cedartown in 1990. Jimmy was a former employee of JL Lester & Son which later became EBY Brown where he retired after forty-five years of service.

After retirement he did custodial work at Second Baptist Church in Cedartown for several years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Jimmy had a love for University of Georgia Football and enjoyed watching TV. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Henry and Patty Swanson.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Rose Bell; three stepchildren, Danny Jones and his wife, Karen, Brenda Stegall, and Tracy Kines and her husband, Blake; six grandchildren, Danielle Gault, Chris Williams, Dana Rampley, Jessica Zahler, Tyler Hutcheson, and Tori Bates; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Emma Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Bell will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with military graveside rites provided by Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will include Joel Swanson, Tommy Swanson, Jamie Gault, Blake Kines, Danny Jones, and Anthony Cromer.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. John “Ed” Wilson

Mr. John “Ed” Wilson, age 69, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Mr. Wilson was born February 24, 1956, in Rockmart, Georgia, son of the late Moses Wilson, Sr. and Johnnie Fields Wilson.

Mr. Wilson truly loved the simple joys of life. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and took great pride in caring for his donkey, cows, and chickens.

His love for animals reflected the kindness he showed to everyone he met.

Mr. Wilson had a deep desire to help others and quietly lived that out by collecting food for “God’s Helping Hands,” a ministry he started to help those in need. His faith guided his life, and he cherished the time he spent with his church family.

Above all else, Mr. Wilson loved his family deeply and devoted his life to caring for them. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he will be remembered for his gentle spirit and generous heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Vines Wilson; and brother, Reverend Moses Wilson, Jr.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his son, Anthony Wilson; daughter, Lisa Morris and her husband, Brad; grandchildren: Courtney Summerville and her husband, Preston, Corey Vines and his wife, Veronica, Dylan Dobbs, Taylor Wilson, Anthony Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Anna, and Andrew Wilson; great-grandchildren: Lennox Martinez, and Mason Thompson; and brother, Mike Wilson.

Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held, Friday, January 23, 2026, at Valley View Baptist Church, at 5:00 PM, with Reverend Danny Tucker and Reverend John Redding officiating.

The family will receive friends, Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM until the service hour, at Valley View Baptist Church.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Anthony Wilson, Jr., Dylan Dobbs, Corey Vines, Jacob Ray, Matthew Wilson, and Jonathan Wilson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Wilson, Lennox Martinez, and Mason Thompson.
