Jerry Randolph Atkins, aged 76, passed away at home. Born January 11, 1948 in Cedartown and died Dec 4 2024 in Rockmart. His parents were Claude Atkins Sr and Dorotha Atkins.

Jerry served in the United States Army, Presidential Honor Guard, flew small planes in his past time and attended Western Michigan University. He worked for Spartan for many years.

He loved Notre Dame football. He was a finance officer at an American Legion Post in Sturgis MI. Jerry had a competitive nature with his identical twin. Jerry was a fanatic for watching football.

Jerry was extremely proud of his late son’s Army career and they shared a love for flying. Jerry loved sports cars. Jerry kept in contact with his small circle of people throughout his life. Affectionately called The Mayor by his neighbors and made sure his small circle was aware when time change happened, the weather and major events.

He is survived by his daughter Erin (Chad) Mobley of Coldwater, Ml, grandchildren Austin, Alexis, Alicia, Alexander and Brayden, Brycen and their mother Benteal and little Jon. His niece Catherine and ex-wife Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Tatiana Marie, son Jon Christopher Atkins and his identical twin brother Gary Atkins. Cremation has taken place. Burial with military honors has not be scheduled but will be at a later date.

Floyd Earl Anderson Jr.

Floyd Earl Anderson Jr., age 70, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday afternoon, January 19, 2026.

Mr. Anderson was born in Cedartown, Georgia, on December 27, 1955, a son of the late Floyd Anderson, Sr. and Dorothy Faye Milam Anderson.

He spent the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith. After 36 years of dedicated service, Mr. Anderson retired from Meggitt, where he was known for his strong work ethic and loyalty. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.  Above all, Mr. Anderson was a devoted family man who cherished time with those he loved. He had a deep love for music and found joy in playing the guitar, and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Anderson.

Mr. Anderson is survived by two sons, Jonathan (Cheri) Anderson, and Jesse (Jessica) Anderson; two sisters, Kathy (Larry) Grimes, and Vickie Polston; brother, Terry Shores. Eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held on Thursday afternoon, January 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Shores officiating.

Mr. Anderson’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
