Mrs. JoAnn Cox

Mrs. JoAnn Cox, age 85, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Saturday May 16, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Cox was born December 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Carl Bender and the late Lillian Brewer Bender.

Mrs. Cox was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She always made sure to show her family how much she truly cared for them. She was a gifted seamstress and loved to sew, even making her own clothing for her children when they were young.

She also possessed a natural talent for remaking furniture and spent many years resurfacing and redoing furniture of all kinds. Over the course of her life, she discovered a love for flea markets and auctions, even working as a manager for her favorite flea market.

Above all, Mrs. Cox was known for being a kindhearted lady who always had a smile and a helping hand to lend. Her kindness will forever be remembered by all who knew her. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. Cox, Jr.; her children, George Tinklepaugh, Richard Tinklepaugh, and Carol Collins (Al); and her siblings, Carl Bender, Thomas Bender, and Rosemary Maley. 

Mrs. Cox s survived by her beloved children, Douglas Cox, James Cox (Donna), James Tinklepaugh, Linda Miller, Debbie Sweet (Ken), Susie Wilfong (Dennis), Robin Bever (Jeff), and Patty Drake (Jim); as well as many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

Funeral graveside and entombment services for Mrs. Cox will be conducted Wednesday May 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. Anthony Trawick officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Society.
