Mr. John Calvin Green Jr.

Mr. John Calvin Green Jr., age 66, of Cedartown, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024. 

Mr. Green was born November 11, 1957, in Cedartown, Georgia, the son of John Calvin Green, Sr. and the late Zora Mae Green. 

Mr. Green is a native of Cedartown, having graduated from Cedartown High School, Class of 1975. He was truly an outdoorsman.

He loved any time spent outside riding his four wheeler, fishing, or simply sitting at the creek. He loved having cook outs with his family and friends, and listening to country music. Mr. Green was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Most of all, he loved his family well. 

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, and a son in law, Tommy Sharp. 

Mr. Green is survived by his daughter, Johnna Owens and her husband, Heath; father, John Green, Sr.; grandchildren: Dylan Green (Anna), Jordan Woods, Taylor Lee (Jeffery), and Harley Owens; great grandchildren: Hadlee Kate, Heidi Klaire, Paisley Mae, Nova Grace, and a baby on the way, Weston Daniel; and siblings; Janie Green Carter (Allen), and Linda Green Morgan (Randy). Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. 

A private interment service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. 

Mr. Green’s family family kindly requests that flowers be omitted, and memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Legion Post 86 Christmas Toy Drive.

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham, age 64, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday afternoon, February 6, 2026.

Al was born in Rome, GA on July 24, 1961, to the late Billy Statham and Margaret Mitchell Statham. He spent his entire life in Polk County and was a graduate of Rockmart High School, Class of 1979.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing softball, but most of all, his greatest joy was watching his granddaughter play softball. He had his special place at the end of his fence where he loved watching Kiley play. He also enjoyed shooting pool with Braidyn and loved working outside.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his nephew, Seth Hitchcock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kris Statham, to whom he married on March 20, 1982; his daughter, Hannah (Corey) Price; 3 grandchildren, Kiley Statham, Braidyn Statham, and Brian Bowman; his brothers, Phil (Loye) Statham, Mickey (Jerri) Statham; and his sister, Patricia (Eldon) Watts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Statham will be Monday, February 9, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Jones officiating and eulogies given by Kiley Statham, Braiden Statham, and Mark Gray.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
