John Waters

Mr. John Waters, age 71, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026.

Mr. Waters was born on January 6, 1955, in Millen, Georgia, son of the late John A. Waters and Doris Burke Odom.

Mr. Waters proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed the things that brought people together. Whether he was out on the golf course, firing up the grill, or watching the Georgia Bulldogs play, he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Millie, who was a constant companion. More than anything, he loved his family and treasured every moment spent making memories with them. His love, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Waters is preceded in death by a special grandmother, Evelyn Burke, who raised him as a son; and stepbrother, William “Scooter” Odom.

Mr. Waters is survived by his wife, Debra Potts Waters; children: Dana Melton and her husband, Jay, Jessica Henry, and Jeremy Nichols; grandchildren: Bridgette Larkin (Jake), and Lindsey Pope (Jordan); several great grandchildren; siblings: Lori Parker, Joy Evans, and Jim Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, there are no formal services planned.
