Mr. Jonathan “Jon” Ladane Bedford

Mr. Jonathan “Jon” Ladane Bedford, age 43, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025.

Jon was born June 2, 1981, in Rome, Georgia, son of Larry Bedford and Martha Phillips Lyons.

Jon was a passionate outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing during his free time. A dedicated Alabama Football fan, he was also skilled in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. One of his favorite pastimes was watching NASCAR with friends.

He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army Infantry. Above all, Jon cherished his family. He was a devoted son, father, and brother, and his love for them was unwavering. His warm presence and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jon is preceded in death by his grandparents: Sam and Jennell Mason, and Kermit Phillips; and his stepfather, JD Lyons.

Jon is survived by his mother, Martha Phillips Lyons; father, Larry Bedford and his wife, Debbie; dearly loved children: Carter Bedford, Juliana Bedford, and Graham Bedford; sister, Kayla Altimari and her husband, Vince: grandfather, John Bedford and his wife, Lynn, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services to honor his life will be held Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 4:00 PM, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Mr. Chuck Graves officiating.

Jon’s family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the service hour.

Mr. Johnny “Mike” Whitfield

Mr. Johnny “Mike” Whitfield, age 77, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026.  

He was born on March 27, 1948. He was the son of the late John Parker Whitfield and Edith Ann Whitfield Willingham. 

Mr. Whitfield is survived by his son, Brian Whitfield and several other extended family members. 

Mr. Whitfield is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renee Willingham Whitfield and brother, Howard Glenn Whitfield. 

A graveside service for Mr. Whitfield will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the family lot in Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Danny Tucker officiating.
