Polk County Emergency Management officials reported that complaints of localized flooding, pooling on roadways, and a couple of trees knocked down are so far the only problems being caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred, which made landfall on the Florida panhandle on Monday.
The National Weather Service has Polk County under a Flash Flood Watch through 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
Calls have come in about flooding in yards in the Church Street area of Van Wert near downtown Rockmart following the prolonged rainfall, but no major flooding has yet been reported.

Much of the widespread precipitation being caused by Tropical Storm Fred moving inland should abate by 2 p.m. according to forecasts, when scattered showers are expected for the rest of the day.
Polk School District moved to a Distance Learning Day for Tuesday as a precaution ahead of the storm on Monday.
The latest named storm of the year made landfall near Cape San Blas on the Florida panhandle on Monday afternoon, bringing with it 65 mph winds and heavy rain that has since spread inland and threatened flooding across West Georgia, Tennessee and now heading toward the Carolinas and Virginia.
Earlier in the season, Tropical Storm Claudette brought heavy rainfall to Polk County after it made landfall over Father’s Day weekend in June.
Tropical Storm Grace currently is in the Caribbean Sea having moved over Haiti and currently over Cuba, and is moving toward the Gulf of Mexico and onward to the Yucatan Peninsula. Tropical Storm Henri in the Atlantic is not currently expected to make landfall close by, but is currently near Bermuda with a track toward South Carolina, but is expected to turn back toward the northeast by Friday.
