Ms. Lou Ella Chastain, age 74, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Ms. Chastain was born May 27, 1951, in Cedartown, Georgia, daughter of the late John Wells and Zona Jackson Wells.
Ms. Chastain was a proud graduate of Cedartown High School, Class of 1969. She was of the Pentecostal Faith and served God with her life. Ms. Chastain enjoyed simple things and would spend hours working on puzzles of all kinds.
She found great joy in singing. Above all, Ms. Chastain loved her family. Her life was a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Chastain is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Larita “Ashleigh” Chastain; and siblings: Pete Richards, Ima Jean Oliver, Maryann Starley, Cathy Singleton, James Wells, and Martha Ellen Wells.

Ms. Chastain is survived by her son, Anthony Chastain; “bonus son,” Justin McGraw; siblings: Charlotte Coleman, Janie Ragsdale, and Wanda Eason; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Allen Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Ms. Chastain’s family will receive friends, also on Saturday at the funeral home, from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Daniel Baines, Ellis Collier, Tony Garmon, Robert Hodnett, Luis Gonzalez, Justin McGraw, Mike Shaw, and Blake Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will include her classmates of 1969.
