Marjorie Ruth Hubbard

Marjorie Ruth Hubbard, age 82 of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025  She was born on December 21, 1942; she was the daughter of the late William Tommie and Sara Ethelene Powers Hubbard. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, William T. (Billy) Hubbard. 

She is survived by her nephews, John David “Hub” Hubbard, Mark Allen Hubbard; sister-in-law, Letitia Hubbard, and seven great-nieces and nephews. 

Marjorie had a long career in the medical field at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia, and retired at age 80. 

Marjorie had a lifelong passion for dogs, cherishing their companionship and sharing her life with them.  She was an active participant of the American Kennel Club (AKC) dog shows for many years. 

She excelled in the sport of conformation dog shows, earning multiple championships and titles.  Her dedication and enthusiasm earned her great respect within the show community, where she will be deeply missed.

Marjorie was an independent women, who always made her own decisions.  But when her illness came she was able to turn that life over to the doctors, nurses and God.  And she did it with reassurance and peace and grace.  We, her family, are proud of her. 

Much appreciation goes to cousins, Brenda and Travis Ragsdale, Jerry and Vicki Lambert, Don Sharp, and to special friends, Zelia Woodward, Freda Nichols, Traci Woodward, Audrey Lee, and Judy Van Duser.   

In keeping with Marjorie’s wishes, she was cremated.  A memorial service for Ms. Hubbard will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the family lot of the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Ms. Hubbard will receive family and friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from one o’clock in the afternoon until the memorial service hour at the Gammage Funeral home.

Mrs. Nancy Ruth Gentry, age 78, of Adairsville, GA, passed away Monday evening, November 10, 2025.

Mrs. Gentry was born on December 26, 1946, to the late Otis Leman “Tobe” Grant and the late Lula Belle Edwards Grant.

Nancy’s working career included employment with Aragon Mills and Muzzy’s, and she later served as a medical technician at Renaissance Marquis before retiring. In her free time, she loved fishing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Phillips H. Gentry, her daughter, Phyllis Kaye Gentry; and her 3 brothers, Billy Grant, Jerry Grant, and Jimmy Grant.

She is survived by her daughters Hope Uitermark and Stacey (Brent) Ledford; her grandchildren, Celia (Doug) Hall, Wade (Renee) Ledford, Adam (Hayley) Bell, and Erin Bell; greatgrandchildren, Kipton Hall, Harper Hall, Ava Bell, Gunner Bell, Peyton Ledford, Stryker Lewis, Jackson Higdon, and Cooper Higdon; her sister, Joyce Ward; sister-in-law Joan Paulus; brother-in-law, Jackie (Shirley) Gentry; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gentry and Rev. Jesse Starnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brent Ledford, Wade Ledford, Adam Bell, Doug Hall, Kipton Hall, and Bobby Cartledge. Honorary pallbearers include Stryker Lewis, Gunner Bell, Ava Bell, Harper Hall, and Peyton Ledford.
