Mr. George W. Cox Jr.

Mr. George W. Cox Jr., age 95, of Cedartown, Georgia, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Mr. Cox was born in New Brighton, Pa., on April 19, 1929, to the late Mr. George and Minnie Cox.

Mr. Cox retired from International Titanium as the Plant Manager. Following his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Preceding Mr. Cox in death are his parents; sons, George Tinklepaugh and Richard “Red” Tinklepaugh; daughter, Carol Collins; brother, Fred Cox; and son-in-law, Jack Miller.

Surviving is his loving wife, JoAnn Cox; sons, Douglas Cox, James Cox (Donna), and James Tinklepaugh; daughters, Linda Miller, Debbie Sweet (Ken), Susie Wilfong (Dennis), Robin Bever (Jeff), and Patty Drake (Jim); sisters, Shirley Suit and Grace Javens; son-in-law, AL Collins. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

The family will hold a visitation on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the Litesey Funeral Home. The funeral services will follow in the Chapel, with Chaplin George officiating. Entombment services will follow at Polk Memory Gardens in Cedartown, where the Bown Wright Post 12 Honor Guard will conduct military rites.

The following will be serving as pallbearers: James Tinklepaugh, Dennis Wilfong, Chris Wilfong

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Johnny “Mike” Whitfield

Mr. Johnny “Mike” Whitfield, age 77, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026.  

He was born on March 27, 1948. He was the son of the late John Parker Whitfield and Edith Ann Whitfield Willingham. 

Mr. Whitfield is survived by his son, Brian Whitfield and several other extended family members. 

Mr. Whitfield is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renee Willingham Whitfield and brother, Howard Glenn Whitfield. 

A graveside service for Mr. Whitfield will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the family lot in Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Danny Tucker officiating.
