Mr. Ronald (Ronnie) Hicks

Mr. Ronald (Ronnie) Hicks, age 76, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020.

Ronnie was born in Laurel, MS on May 5, 1944, a son of the late Grady Hicks and the late Myrtis Keyes Hicks. Born in Mississippi, Ronnie lived his childhood and young adult life in Laurel before moving to Georgia in the 1970’s. He was a member of the Rockmart Second Baptist Church and the John W. Akin Lodge #537 F. & A.M in Taylorsville. Ronnie enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of fifty six years, Darleine Gorman Hicks of Rockmart, to whom he was married on June 21, 1964; children: Rhonda Eichenberger and her husband, Kurt, Rome and Rodney Hicks and his wife, Tami, Canton; five grandchildren: Zaynab K. Taei, Brandon Hicks and his wife Holly, Nicholas Eichenberger, Amanda Hicks, and Sarah Eichenberger; two great-grandchildren: Diem Hicks and Riggins Hicks; two step-grandchildren: Brittany Moss and her husband Devin and Brad Daugherty; step great-grandchild, Oakley Moss; two brothers: Gary Hicks and his wife, Glenda, Laurel, MS, and Hal Hicks, Laurel, MS; two sisters: Betty West and her husband, Leonard, Laurel, MS, and Tammy Windham and her husband Mark, Laurel, MS.



Mr. Hicks will lie instate on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home. The family will have a private graveside service with Rev. David Warriner officiating and masonic graveside rites. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Ronald (Ronnie) Hicks.

Larry “Bushwacker” Brown


Obituaries

Mr. Larry “Bushwacker” Brown, age 66, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Larry was born in Cedartown, Georgia, to the late J.C. Brown and Betty Garrett Brown, on August 15, 1959.

He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. In his free time, he found joy in the simple things—riding the back roads, singing karaoke with friends, and spending time working on cars. He also had a love for music, often picking up a guitar and playing for those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Jimmy Brown; nephews, Kevin Brown and Kenneth Brown; long-time friend, Jerone Jackson.

Larry is survived by his children Keith Brown (Alisha), Daniel Brown (Lindsey Reece), and Jadya Brown; twelve grandchildren; brother, Terry Brown (Diane Glover); sister-in-law, Belinda Brown. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Services for Larry “Bushwacker” Brown will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Justin Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Piedmont, Alabama.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
