Mrs. Flossie Lujean Fowler Ferguson

Mrs. Flossie Lujean Fowler Ferguson, age 91, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on February 28, 1929, in the Sand Mountain community of Etowah County, Alabama a daughter of James Augustus Fowler and Minnie Shaw Fowler. Mrs. Ferguson had lived the greater part of her life in Cobb county before moving to Rockmart eighteen years ago. She was a very active member of the Rockmart First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ferguson loved to cook and her family was of very great importance to her. She had once worked for the Georgia State Patrol where she was a typesetter and she had also worked for the F.W. Woolworth Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Rayford Ferguson II, and nine siblings.

Survivors include her two daughters: Sandra Jones and her husband Jimmy and Vicki Ferguson all of Rockmart; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson.



Mrs. Ferguson will lie instate at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Monday, November 9th. from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon where friends may come and visit.

A private family graveside service will follow in the Powder Springs Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeanette Dickens officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made in memory of Mrs. Ferguson to the Rockmart United Methodist Church Community Meal Fund.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Flossie Lujean Fowler Ferguson.

Mrs. Nancy Ruth Gentry, age 78, of Adairsville, GA, passed away Monday evening, November 10, 2025.

Mrs. Gentry was born on December 26, 1946, to the late Otis Leman “Tobe” Grant and the late Lula Belle Edwards Grant.

Nancy’s working career included employment with Aragon Mills and Muzzy’s, and she later served as a medical technician at Renaissance Marquis before retiring. In her free time, she loved fishing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Phillips H. Gentry, her daughter, Phyllis Kaye Gentry; and her 3 brothers, Billy Grant, Jerry Grant, and Jimmy Grant.

She is survived by her daughters Hope Uitermark and Stacey (Brent) Ledford; her grandchildren, Celia (Doug) Hall, Wade (Renee) Ledford, Adam (Hayley) Bell, and Erin Bell; greatgrandchildren, Kipton Hall, Harper Hall, Ava Bell, Gunner Bell, Peyton Ledford, Stryker Lewis, Jackson Higdon, and Cooper Higdon; her sister, Joyce Ward; sister-in-law Joan Paulus; brother-in-law, Jackie (Shirley) Gentry; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gentry and Rev. Jesse Starnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brent Ledford, Wade Ledford, Adam Bell, Doug Hall, Kipton Hall, and Bobby Cartledge. Honorary pallbearers include Stryker Lewis, Gunner Bell, Ava Bell, Harper Hall, and Peyton Ledford.
