Mrs. Nellie Hames Fuqua

Mrs. Nellie Hames Fuqua, age 93, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Friday morning, December 6, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Fuqua was born in Taylorsville, GA, on November 17, 1931, a daughter of the late Clifford Hames and Beatrice Brownlow Hames.

She had lived her childhood years in Taylorsville and the greater part of her adulthood in Rockmart. Mrs. Fuqua was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. She had worked for Braswell Grocery and Mac’s Bakery.

Mrs. Fuqua was a very giving person and was a caregiver of her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fuqua was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Fuqua, daughter, Brenda Fuqua Roberson, grandson, Scott Davis, sister, Marie Mull, and brothers, Rena Hames and Franklin Hames.

Mrs. Fuqua is survived by a son, Kennith (Sherry) Fuqua; five grandchildren, Chris Fuqua, Chad Fuqua, Austin Fuqua, April Maulding, and Jase Davis; five great-grandchildren, Audrey Anna Fuqua, Colby Fuqua, Lillie Howard, Kylen Maulding, Emryn Maulding; sister, Sarah Burkhalter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services or Mrs. Fuqua will be held on Monday afternoon, December 9, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Don Spears officiating. Private interment will follow in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Fuqua’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Chris Fuqua, Chad Fuqua, Austin Fuqua, Colby Fuqua, Jase Davis, and Austin Waits. Honorary pallbearers will include Anna Fuqua and Kapp Fennell.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for Nellie Hames Fuqua.

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Shirley Ann Haney Ingle.

Shirley, age 90, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025. She was born in Knoxville, TN, to Beatrice Laura and Clyde William Haney, on September 18, 1935.

Shirley was a lifetime resident of Rockmart, GA, where she was a lifelong member of Aragon Baptist Church and proudly served as a past Auxiliary President of the American Legion Post 12 in Rockmart, GA.

She was employed at Goodyear for over 22 years and in retirement worked for Rite Aid Pharmacy. Shirley was a graduate of Rockmart High School, Class of 1954, where she was a cheerleader for four years.

Shirley was formerly married to Charles Ingle who preceded her in death. Together they have two surviving daughters, Gina Ingle and Tammy Ingle Sanders, both of Rockmart, GA. Also surviving is a grandson, Russ Sanders and Kelsey Sanders and great-granddaughter, Charlee Sanders of Sandy OR; sister, Myra Haney Quintana and Andrew Quintana of Cartersville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her Mother, Beatrice, and Father, Clyde Haney. Also, preceding her in death are sisters, Dixie Haney Brannon, Toni Haney Blair, Nilada Haney Trenary, Nina Haney Yarbrough, Barb Haney; brothers, Harold Haney, Jack Haney and David Haney,

All who knew Shirley remembered her outgoing personality, infectious laugh and many years of volunteer service for the American Legion. Her whole life was wrapped around her girls, Gina and Tammy and she always said, “nobody did it better than my girls.”

Graveside and interment services for Shirley will be held on Friday afternoon, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Todd Jones officiating.
