A crew will be coming in March to start workin’ on the railroad crossings in Rockmart, and hopefully won’t take all the live-long day to complete the job ahead.
The City of Rockmart announced that crossings on Marble Street (at the intersection with College Street,) Piedmont Avenue and Old Cartersville Road crossings will see closures starting on March 16, and to continue for at least 24 to 48 hours per crossing.
Per city officials, the crossing work will not impact travelers being able to get around utilizing the Jones Street crossing until the work is done.
However, travelers around the city will be encouraged to use detour routes using Nathan Dean Parkway, Prospect Road and West Elm Street to get from downtown Rockmart back through to main arteries around the city until the work is complete. Additional routes will be available during the closure period.
Railroad crews previously completed work on the Highway 101 crossing at the industrial park last year amid construction work for a bridge replacement in the area.
Check back for updates on the closures as they become available and detours suggested by the city.
