UPDATE: One dead, Police identify suspect at large in a shooting incident on Rice Road in Rockmart area

Help police tonight find a man who is being sought as the lone suspect in a shooting incident believed to have fled toward Bartow County this evening.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find Jimmy Brian Blackmon, a white male who lives at 118 Rice Road. He is believed to be driving a black 2015 GMC Sierra, license place number RVN1626. He now has an active murder warrant for his arrest.

In an update on Facebook, police have listed him as armed and dangerous at this time, and included a mugshot.

The also confirmed the death was that of a female, but have yet to provide a name. Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd previously confirmed the shooting was domestic in nature.

“Lifesaving measures were attempted by law enforcement, as well as medical personnel,” the post stated.

Polk County Police are searching for a male suspect who fled toward Bartow County responsible for the death of another on Rice Road tonight, according to Chief Kenny Dodd.

A “be on the lookout” was released to law enforcement agencies around the area for the suspect in the case, and police were not yet ready to release his name at this time as they are actively searching for him at this time.

Dodd reported the lone shooting death this evening was related to a domestic violence incident. No other suspects are being sought at this time, and no additional injuries have been reported.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab arrived on the scene and began the process of collecting evidence on the scene in cooperation with the Polk County Police.

Those who might know the whereabouts of the suspect in question or have further information about this case are encouraged to call 911 immediately.

One person is dead and a suspect is on the run in a Rockmart-area shooting incident, according to Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd.

Dodd said that they have identified the suspect in the incident and are currently searching the area for his capture, but are unable yet to release further details immediately as additional details in the investigation come to light.

The shooting took place at a residence on Rice Road around 8:30 p.m. Officials remain at the scene at this time processing evidence, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be involved in the case as well, as per the procedure with homicides across the state.

Dodd did not immediately report any other people involved in the incident. 



This marked the latest shooting death reported in Polk County this year and the second in recent days. Kevin Quillian was shot and killed in an incident in Cedartown on October 9.

    If suspect is in these woods I need to know I can track down and capture/retrieve his bounty at any cost and be successful can I receive more details or be contacted asap
