The Polk County Republican Party will be gathering this Saturday for a meeting at the Cherokee Golf and Country Club in Cedartown, and then members and supporters of the GOP are invited to also head up to Rome for a session at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds for a gathering of party notables from across the state.

Local GOP members are gathering for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. for free breakfast or coffee and fellowship before the business meeting starts at 9 a.m.

The meeting should be done with enough time for anyone who wants to go to Rome for the annual GOP rally at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, with doors opening at 10 a.m. Lunch starts at 10:30 a.m., then continues at 11 a.m. with the program starting after.

This year’s speakers invited to participate include Governor Brian Kemp, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, Vernon Jones, Kandiss Taylor, State Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Kelvin King, Latham Saddler, Congressman Jody Hice, State Senator Bruce Thompson, Tyler Harper, David Belle Isle, Burt Jones, as well as many other statewide and local elected officials.

It’s free to attend, but a barbecue lunch provided by Duffy’s Deli for $10 a plate.

Kona Ice, Frios, and other vendors will also be on hand, and the Floyd County GOP will hold a straw poll.
