Mr. Ralph Walter Smith Sr.

Mr. Ralph Walter Smith, Sr., age 75, of Cedartown, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022.

Mr. Smith was born October 30, 1947, in Rome, Ga., to his late parents, Charles “Preacher” Smith and Eloise Lewis Smith.

He was, above all, a family man. He enjoyed having cookouts and spending time with those he loved.

Mr. Smith was a man of many talents, enjoying hobbies like camping, wood working, gardening, and working on cars. Mr. Smith had a lengthy career of thirty years at General Motors. He was especially fond of time spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne Renee Turner; and sister, Geraldine “Dean” Arencibia.

Mr. Smith is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Cheryl Smith; son, Ralph Smith Jr. and his wife, Kelly; daughters: Melissa Smith-Edge, Annette Smith and her husband, Steve, and step-son Ira Childers, and step-daughter Rhea Beck and her husband Robert; brother, Billy Smith; and sister, Charlene Kuhlman and her husband, Eddie; and brother in law, Freddie Arencebia, Sr. Additionally, Mr. Smith is survived by nine grandchildren: Ashley Edge; Kierstan Camp; Payton Cox; Jason Blankenship; Kathryn Smith and Riley Turner; step-grandchildren Damien Beck, Marlon Moralas and Katlyn Beck; great-step grandchildren Champ Beck; Rudy Beck and Lyla Beck. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held, Saturday, December 17, 2022, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral home at 11:00 AM with Mr. Tyler Camp and Mr. Chris Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Steve Smith, Ralph Smith, Jr., Freddie Arencibia, Jr., Jason Blankenship, Bill Kuhlman, Anthony Wood, Trey Rutledge, and Wayne Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Blankenship, Freddie Arencibia, Sr., Eddie Kuhlman, Billy Smith, and Johnny Carter.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 16, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral Home.

Mr. Charles D. “Chuck” Hise

Mr. Charles D. “Chuck” Hise, age 60, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Sunday evening, April 12, 2026.

Chuck was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on October 4, 1965 and had made his home in Rockmart for the past 16 years.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in cycling, fly fishing, riding motorcycles, and horseback riding. He also had a fascination with astronomy and a deep love for animals. Known for his warm spirit, Chuck never passed up a good latte or the chance to share a classic “dad joke,” bringing smiles to those around him.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Ellie.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Libby Hise, whom he married September 6, 1986; three children, Brandon Hise (Linzi), Meagan Brannon (Taylor), and Lauren Williams (Jeff); five grandchildren, Caroline, Kai, Fin, Kase, and Andy; and parents, Charles and Joanne Hise.

Funeral services for Chuck will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Little officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

Chuck’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday evening, April 17, 2026, between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brandon Hise, Jeff Williams, Taylor Brannon, Greg Knight, Jake Knight, and Brantley Nelson. Chuck’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Red Clay Ranch Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, 364 Parker Road, Lyerly, GA 30730 in memory of Mr. Hise.
