Mr. Ronald Wayne Ely, age 76, of Rome, GA and formerly of Aragon, GA, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

Mr. Ely was born on December 17, 1944 in Bartow County, GA to his parents: Junior Walter “J.W.” Ely and Ethel Estelle Dover Ely. Ronald lived all his life in Aragon and had attended Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Ely worked for Georgia Lightweight Aggregate company for many years.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Ray, Ralph, Charlie, James, Evelyn, Martha, Ruth, Retha, Agnes, Clara, Mildred and Shirley.

Mr. Ely is survived by his loving brothers: Carl Ely of Aragon, GA, and Junior Ely of Silver Creek, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ely will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from 1:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM.

Mrs. Nancy Ruth Gentry, age 78, of Adairsville, GA, passed away Monday evening, November 10, 2025.

Mrs. Gentry was born on December 26, 1946, to the late Otis Leman “Tobe” Grant and the late Lula Belle Edwards Grant.

Nancy’s working career included employment with Aragon Mills and Muzzy’s, and she later served as a medical technician at Renaissance Marquis before retiring. In her free time, she loved fishing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Phillips H. Gentry, her daughter, Phyllis Kaye Gentry; and her 3 brothers, Billy Grant, Jerry Grant, and Jimmy Grant.

She is survived by her daughters Hope Uitermark and Stacey (Brent) Ledford; her grandchildren, Celia (Doug) Hall, Wade (Renee) Ledford, Adam (Hayley) Bell, and Erin Bell; greatgrandchildren, Kipton Hall, Harper Hall, Ava Bell, Gunner Bell, Peyton Ledford, Stryker Lewis, Jackson Higdon, and Cooper Higdon; her sister, Joyce Ward; sister-in-law Joan Paulus; brother-in-law, Jackie (Shirley) Gentry; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gentry and Rev. Jesse Starnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brent Ledford, Wade Ledford, Adam Bell, Doug Hall, Kipton Hall, and Bobby Cartledge. Honorary pallbearers include Stryker Lewis, Gunner Bell, Ava Bell, Harper Hall, and Peyton Ledford.
