Ronnie Eugene Smith, age 70, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Mr. Smith was born March 4, 1953, in Marietta, Georgia, to his parents, Hubert Smith and Alice Odean Hopkins Smith.

Ronnie was a retired brick mason. He was of the Baptist faith.

In his free time, Ronnie enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, going to flea markets, going to the coin club with his grandson, watching tv shows, and talking to his many friends on the phone.

Ronnie had the great privilege of playing for the Murdock Masons softball team and being named the 1986 World Series Champions in the state of Oklahoma. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loving family and being “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Smith; mother, Alice Odean Hopkins Smith; brother, Lamar Smith; and sister, Diane Gayton.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Peggy Chambers; children: Renee Barton and her husband, Jeff Barton, and Connie Montfort and her husband, Jack Montfort, Sr.; brother, Travis Smith and his wife, Dale; grandchildren: Joshua Smith(Samantha), Brittany Romines(Cody), Jeannie Golden(Tyler), and Jack Montfort, Jr. (Autumn); and great-grandchildren: Autumn Smith, Kaden Romines, Kyleigh Smith, Ryland Romines, and Leighla Smith. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Memorial services will be held, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Justin Grant officiating.

Ronnie’s family will receive friends, also on Thursday at the funeral home, from 2:00 PM until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his wife, Peggy Chambers.

Mr. Charles D. “Chuck” Hise

Mr. Charles D. “Chuck” Hise, age 60, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Sunday evening, April 12, 2026.

Chuck was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on October 4, 1965 and had made his home in Rockmart for the past 16 years.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in cycling, fly fishing, riding motorcycles, and horseback riding. He also had a fascination with astronomy and a deep love for animals. Known for his warm spirit, Chuck never passed up a good latte or the chance to share a classic “dad joke,” bringing smiles to those around him.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Ellie.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Libby Hise, whom he married September 6, 1986; three children, Brandon Hise (Linzi), Meagan Brannon (Taylor), and Lauren Williams (Jeff); five grandchildren, Caroline, Kai, Fin, Kase, and Andy; and parents, Charles and Joanne Hise.

Funeral services for Chuck will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Little officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

Chuck’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday evening, April 17, 2026, between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brandon Hise, Jeff Williams, Taylor Brannon, Greg Knight, Jake Knight, and Brantley Nelson. Chuck’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Red Clay Ranch Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, 364 Parker Road, Lyerly, GA 30730 in memory of Mr. Hise.
