Sandra “Sandi” Wilson Shelley

Mrs. Sandra “Sandi” Wilson Shelley, age 61 of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was born on March 21, 1960, in Oroville, California. She was the daughter of John David “Boober” and Margaret Jolly and Mr. and Mrs Herchal Wilson.

Sandi was known for her fiery, fierce and loyal personality. She was a woman who knew what she wanted and worked relentlessly to get it. She spent her career working as a paralegal and for over 20 years worked for Lester Tate at Akin and Tate Law Firm in Cartersville, Georgia.

She was a proud member of Second Baptist Church of Cedartown where she served on several committees. She also spent time serving as an advocate for CASA in Cedartown. Sandi’s greatest joy in life came from time spent with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Sandi Shelley was a wonderfully devoted wife, mom and friend.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her adoring husband, Kenneth Shelley; her mother, her children, Megan Morris Respert (Jason), John Speight, Jennifer Speight Murphy (Seth), Jake Dooley (Rebecca), Hannah Armitage (Steven), JoJo Dooley (Brittany), Sam Shelley (Alexis); her grandchildren, Carter, Trent, Chase, Bryson, Eden, Hadley, Ella, Knox, Judd and Jack; her brother Michael Wilson and sister Terri Lusher.

The memorial service celebrating Mrs. Sandi Shelley’s life will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Second Baptist Church, Cedartown with Pastor Justin Carter officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 until 5:00pm.

The family will be wearing red in honor of her spunky personality and would love her friends to join them. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Second Baptist Church, Principal Building Fund, 152 Evergreen Lane, Cedartown, GA 30125.

Larry “Bushwacker” Brown


Obituaries

Mr. Larry “Bushwacker” Brown, age 66, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Larry was born in Cedartown, Georgia, to the late J.C. Brown and Betty Garrett Brown, on August 15, 1959.

He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. In his free time, he found joy in the simple things—riding the back roads, singing karaoke with friends, and spending time working on cars. He also had a love for music, often picking up a guitar and playing for those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Jimmy Brown; nephews, Kevin Brown and Kenneth Brown; long-time friend, Jerone Jackson.

Larry is survived by his children Keith Brown (Alisha), Daniel Brown (Lindsey Reece), and Jadya Brown; twelve grandchildren; brother, Terry Brown (Diane Glover); sister-in-law, Belinda Brown. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Services for Larry “Bushwacker” Brown will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Justin Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Piedmont, Alabama.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
