Sara Sue “Sal” Forsyth

Mrs. Sara Sue “Sal” Forsyth, age 89, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

Mrs. Forsyth was born in Aragon, GA on December 9, 1932, a daughter of the late William H. “Buck” Hicks and the late Margie Knight Hicks.

Sal lived all of her life in Rockmart where she was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for over fifty years. Mrs. Forsyth was associated with the Rockmart branch of SunTrust Bank where she retired as Vice President.

Sal and her late husband, Gordon owned and operated Forsyth Ford in Rockmart from 1958 until 2011.

She loved to travel, cook, take care of her family and being outside.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Forsyth; nephew, William G. “Chip” Chambers; and her sister, Mary Lou Brackett.

Mrs. Forsyth is survived by her niece and caregiver, Carla Brackett Chambers; niece, Beth Brackett Ray; brother-in-law; Dan Forsyth; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 5:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Brother Jason Whittenburg and Brother Melton Moss officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Shad Chambers, Jason Chambers, Blake Brumbelow, Karson Brumbelow, Conner Brumbelow, Gunner Chambers, Tony Broome, and Keith Sorrells.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm at the funeral home.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Sara Sue “Sal” Forsyth.

Obituaries

Mr. Sidney “Sid” Woodrow Hall Jr., age 79, of Rockmart, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

He was born on January 9, 1947 in Moultre, Georgia. He was the son to the late Sidney Woodrow Hall, Sr. and Myra Clayton Hall.

Mr. Hall is survived by his loving wife, Ruby “Joyce” Wolfe Hall; daughter, Jodi Wyatt; sons, Darren Hall (Audyn), Jason Hall (April) and Joe McLendon, Jr. (Mary); sisters, Susan Vaughn and Lee Petusky (Rick); grandchildren, Jessica Hodge (Tom), Alex Hall, Nathaniel “Tate” Hall, Lauren Clift (Elijah), Tim Wyatt (Sydney), Jordan McLendon (Ashley), Leiton McLendon, and Isabel Moates; great-grandchildren, Elijah Hodge, Everly Hodge and Judy Clift; several nieces and nephews; and several other extended family members.

Mr. Hall is preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Hall and aunt, Jo Aycock.

In keeping with Mr. Hall’s wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at six o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 12 of Rockmart.

The family of Mr. Hall will receive family and friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from five o’clock in the afternoon until the memorial service hour at the Olin L Gammage & Sons Funeral Home.

The family is accepting flowers; however, memorial donations can be made to the following: American Heart Association, Pulmonary Fibrosis or American Cancer Institute.
