Mrs. Sharon Abernathy Stephenson

Mrs. Sharon Abernathy Stephenson, age 64, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Wednesday evening, February 5, 2025.

Sharon was born in Rockmart on July 31, 1960, a daughter of the late B.L. Abernathy and Linda Green Abernathy.

She had lived all her life in Polk County and was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church. Sharon retired from Polk School District where she loved teaching children. She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, going to the mountains and always enjoyed when she wound up on the beach.

Sharon loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who had a special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a nephew, Cody Stephenson.

Sharon is survived by her children, Brian (Leah) Stephenson, Elizabeth Stephenson, and Derek (Ashley) Stephenson; grandchildren, Landon, Presley, Ellis Kate, Bryanna, Cole, Clay, and Emma; two sisters, Barbara (David) Burnley, and Janie Abernathy; brother, Lee (Jimmy) Poteat; nieces and nephews, Ashley Morris, Melissa Strickland, Kayla McArthur, and John Stephenson.

Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 8, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Connor Hooper officiating. Brian Stephenson will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Sharon’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday evening, February 7, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include John Paschal, John Dooley, Greg Hughes, Zach Richardson, Christopher Lemon, and Justin Carter. Honorary pallbearers will include Landon, Clay, and Cole.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Mr. Charles D. “Chuck” Hise

Mr. Charles D. “Chuck” Hise, age 60, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Sunday evening, April 12, 2026.

Chuck was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on October 4, 1965 and had made his home in Rockmart for the past 16 years.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in cycling, fly fishing, riding motorcycles, and horseback riding. He also had a fascination with astronomy and a deep love for animals. Known for his warm spirit, Chuck never passed up a good latte or the chance to share a classic “dad joke,” bringing smiles to those around him.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Ellie.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Libby Hise, whom he married September 6, 1986; three children, Brandon Hise (Linzi), Meagan Brannon (Taylor), and Lauren Williams (Jeff); five grandchildren, Caroline, Kai, Fin, Kase, and Andy; and parents, Charles and Joanne Hise.

Funeral services for Chuck will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Little officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

Chuck’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday evening, April 17, 2026, between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brandon Hise, Jeff Williams, Taylor Brannon, Greg Knight, Jake Knight, and Brantley Nelson. Chuck’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Red Clay Ranch Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, 364 Parker Road, Lyerly, GA 30730 in memory of Mr. Hise.
