Mrs. Shirley Cordle Carr, age 89 of Cave Spring, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024.  

She was born on January 11, 1935 in Rome, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Inez Buffington Cordle. 

Mrs. Carr was a member of First Baptist Church of Cedartown, where she taught all the youth girls and GA’s Sunday School for many years. 

Mrs. Carr is survived by her son, Barry Carr (Kathy); daughters, Joan Hunt (Allen), Cathy Walker (Phil) and Vicki Reed (Dan); grandchildren, Kasey and Andy Austin, Kendal and Swayze Waters, Kim Carr, Sam and Hannah Hunt, Ben and Nicole Hunt, Van and Jenna Hunt, Haley and Roger McConkey, Carrly and Eric Lovvorn, Ridge Walker, Richelyn Reed, and Austin Reed; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Nettuno; brother, Philip Cordle (Gail); and several nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Carr is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ewell Sanford Carr, Jr.; brothers, Frank Cordle, Bill Cordle and Larry Cordle; and sister, Sara Cordle Sprayberry.  

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Carr will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.  Interment will follow in the family lot of the Oaknoll Cemetery, in Rome, Georgia.

The family of Mrs. Carr will receive family and friends on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 12:30 pm until funeral hour at the First Baptist Church.

The family has respectfully requested that floral arrangements are to be omitted and memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Cedartown, 101 N College Street, Cedartown, GA 30125. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Sam Hunt, Ben Hunt, Van Hunt, Ridge Walker, Kim Carr, and Austin Reed.

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham, age 64, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday afternoon, February 6, 2026.

Al was born in Rome, GA on July 24, 1961, to the late Billy Statham and Margaret Mitchell Statham. He spent his entire life in Polk County and was a graduate of Rockmart High School, Class of 1979.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing softball, but most of all, his greatest joy was watching his granddaughter play softball. He had his special place at the end of his fence where he loved watching Kiley play. He also enjoyed shooting pool with Braidyn and loved working outside.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his nephew, Seth Hitchcock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kris Statham, to whom he married on March 20, 1982; his daughter, Hannah (Corey) Price; 3 grandchildren, Kiley Statham, Braidyn Statham, and Brian Bowman; his brothers, Phil (Loye) Statham, Mickey (Jerri) Statham; and his sister, Patricia (Eldon) Watts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Statham will be Monday, February 9, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Jones officiating and eulogies given by Kiley Statham, Braiden Statham, and Mark Gray.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
