Mrs. Velma Louise Morris Wynn

Mrs. Velma Louise Morris Wynn, age 100, of Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on January 30, 1924, a daughter of Johnny Joel Morris and Iona Bowman Morris.  Mrs. Wynn lived the early years of her life in Rockmart and was a graduate of Rockmart High School.  

She later lived in Atlanta for twenty-four years where she worked for the John Deere Company and following retirement returned to Rockmart.  

She was a member of the Fairview Baptist.  Mrs. Wynn enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and preparing wonderful meals for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Joel Morris, her mother, Iona Bowman Morris Isenhour and stepfather, Lon Isenhour, husband James “Jimmy” Wynn, son, Edwin Wynn, brother, Emory Morris and sisters: Mildred Purser, Frances Chandler and Virginia McDowell.

Survivors include three grandchildren: Susan Ollis (Todd), Donald Wynn (Raequel) and Lonnie Lyle (Robbin) and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 4:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Chaplain George Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until the service hour at 4:00 pm.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Velma Louise Morris Wynn.

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham

Mr. Alan Dale “Al” Statham, age 64, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday afternoon, February 6, 2026.

Al was born in Rome, GA on July 24, 1961, to the late Billy Statham and Margaret Mitchell Statham. He spent his entire life in Polk County and was a graduate of Rockmart High School, Class of 1979.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing softball, but most of all, his greatest joy was watching his granddaughter play softball. He had his special place at the end of his fence where he loved watching Kiley play. He also enjoyed shooting pool with Braidyn and loved working outside.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his nephew, Seth Hitchcock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kris Statham, to whom he married on March 20, 1982; his daughter, Hannah (Corey) Price; 3 grandchildren, Kiley Statham, Braidyn Statham, and Brian Bowman; his brothers, Phil (Loye) Statham, Mickey (Jerri) Statham; and his sister, Patricia (Eldon) Watts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Statham will be Monday, February 9, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Jones officiating and eulogies given by Kiley Statham, Braiden Statham, and Mark Gray.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
