Wendell Holcomb Sr.

Mr. Wendell Joseph Holcomb Sr., age 86 of Waco, GA, passed away July 30th, 2026.

Mr. Holcomb was born in Polk County, Georgia on September 16, 1939. He was the son of the late Mr. Wilburn Joseph Holcomb and Mrs. Edna Pruitt Holcomb. 

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as first wife; Shirley Lee Holcomb, son; Wendell Joseph “Joey” Holcomb Jr. (Wanda) and brother; Kenneth Roger Holcomb.

He retired from the city of Atlanta police force with 29 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, firearms, western movies, gardening, and time with family. He was also a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Buncombe.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Juanita Holcomb, daughters; Anita Holcomb Bailey (Bart), Lisa Martin, Kimberly Hinely (John).  He was also survived by his sons; David Holcomb and Roger Holcomb (Chirsty). Wendell has left behind 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Numerous cousins also survive.

The family of Mr. Wendell Joseph Holcomb will receive family and friends on August 1, 2026 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home on Saturday August 1, 2026 at 2:00pm with Rev. Kevin McAdams officiating. Interment will follow the service at Northview Cemetery in Cedartown.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Joseph Holcomb, Javan Deal, Jordan Holcomb, Caleb Deal, and Dakota Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Holcomb and Bobby Holcomb.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made to St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
