William Curtis Milner

William Curtis Milner, age 66, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, May 7, 2024, at his residence.

Curtis was born in Columbus, GA, on August 4, 1957, son of the late Jack Curtis Milner and Irene Hayes Milner.  

He had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith.  

Curtis enjoyed fishing and hunting, working on lawn mowers, old cars and trucks, and enjoyed watching old westerns.

In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by two nephews, Foster White and Terry Milner, and a step-son, Michael Wayne King.

Curtis is survived by his companion, Lorenda Lou Ward; three sisters, Polly Layman (Roger Gainor), Susan (Tony) Whitley, and Marie (David) Cupp; three step-children, Carol King, Patricia King, and Niki Forsyth.  Several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Curtis will be held on Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Meeks officiating.  Eulogies will be delivered by family and friends.

Curtis’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Mrs. Nancy Ruth Gentry, age 78, of Adairsville, GA, passed away Monday evening, November 10, 2025.

Mrs. Gentry was born on December 26, 1946, to the late Otis Leman “Tobe” Grant and the late Lula Belle Edwards Grant.

Nancy’s working career included employment with Aragon Mills and Muzzy’s, and she later served as a medical technician at Renaissance Marquis before retiring. In her free time, she loved fishing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Phillips H. Gentry, her daughter, Phyllis Kaye Gentry; and her 3 brothers, Billy Grant, Jerry Grant, and Jimmy Grant.

She is survived by her daughters Hope Uitermark and Stacey (Brent) Ledford; her grandchildren, Celia (Doug) Hall, Wade (Renee) Ledford, Adam (Hayley) Bell, and Erin Bell; greatgrandchildren, Kipton Hall, Harper Hall, Ava Bell, Gunner Bell, Peyton Ledford, Stryker Lewis, Jackson Higdon, and Cooper Higdon; her sister, Joyce Ward; sister-in-law Joan Paulus; brother-in-law, Jackie (Shirley) Gentry; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gentry and Rev. Jesse Starnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Brent Ledford, Wade Ledford, Adam Bell, Doug Hall, Kipton Hall, and Bobby Cartledge. Honorary pallbearers include Stryker Lewis, Gunner Bell, Ava Bell, Harper Hall, and Peyton Ledford.
