Joshua Paul Bourg

The Polk County Police arrested a man on a bicycle Thursday evening after he was spotted riding northbound on the southbound side of Highway 27 South, according to reports.

Joshua Paul Bourg, 36, of 697 Berry Road, Cedartown, was stopped by officers at Highway 27 South and Watts Road just after 8:30 p.m. on Thursday because he was riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the roadway.

The brief report stated that once stopped and police further investigated, Bourg was arrested for “violating Georgia controlled substance laws.”

Police reported they did confiscate a plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine. Additionally, because of the charges Bourg is also alleged to have also had paraphernalia of some kind on his person.

Bourg remained in the Polk County Jail today on a $4,100 bond. He was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanors for bicycle must be on the right side of roadway and possession and use of drug related objects.
