Despite a reduction in bail, Blackmon remains in the Polk County Jail

This photo shows Jimmy Brian Blackmon, 50, at the time of his booking at the Polk County Jail on murder charges on October 26, 2020.

In recent days, a man accused of murder and his attorney went before Tallapoosa Circuit Superior Court Judge Meng Lim seeking a reduction in the amount of money it would cost to get him out of jail.

District Attorney Jack Browning argued against the request, citing a more than a weeklong manhunt for the prime suspect in the shooting death of his wife on October 18, 2020 at their home on Rice Road.

Judge Lim had already set bail for $500,000, a figure that was still a surprise considering the severity of the crime and the potential for the suspect to go on the run.

Yet it seems that the reduction in the amount of bond required for Jimmy Brian Blackmon to be release from jail – along with several conditions – wasn’t enough as he remains behind bars a week after a figure was set for his release.

Blackmon, 50, remains in jail on a $100,000 bond for charges of murder, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes, cruelty to children in the third degree and influencing a witness.

He’s been in jail for the past 86 days on the charges since his arrest on October 26, 2020 in Carroll County.

He’s accused of shooting his wife Ginger at their home at 118 Rice Road, where if Blackmon does eventually get out of jail will be where he is required to return and remain under house arrest with an ankle monitor for police to keep tabs on him and ensure he remains in his home.

Blackmon went on the run for eight days following his alleged role in the murder, and was found by police hiding in the woods behind his father’s house in Carroll County before he was taken into custody.
