Mrs. Vurla Mullinax Thornton, age 88, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021. She was born on May 27, 1932 in Cedartown, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Riley Allen and Ollie Mae Ingram Mullinax.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her son, Butch Thornton (Laura); grandchildren, Erin Morgan (Tyler), Jessie Stewart (Mark), Mitchell Thornton (Darra), Abbye Thornton (Colby), Emmalee Jakubiak and Mason Jakubiak; great-grandchildren, Laykn, Liam, Baizlee, Parker, McKinlee, Sawyer, Teegan, Ayda and Legend.
Mrs. Thornton is preceded in death by her parents and husband, William Ernie Thornton.
The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Vurla Mullinax Thornton will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at two o’clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Rev. Wayne Benefield and Dr. David Taylor officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Thornton will receive family and friends on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from five o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Mitchell Thornton, Tyler Morgan, Mark Stewart, Colby Dyer, Mason Jakubiak and Ricky Peck. The First Baptist Church Choir and Nifty Fifty members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family is accepting flowers; however, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Cedartown Choir, 101 North College Street, Cedartown, Georgia, 30125.
In accordance with the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC, social distancing guidelines will be in place as well as the use of masks required for all services provided for Mrs. Thornton.
