A Walk for Hope: Second annual S.I.D.S. Awareness event marches down Main Street in Cedartown

The loss of a child is difficult on everyone, but especially an infant is one that is almost impossible to bear.

Yet with the same faith that helps people able to grieve the loss of a child, it also provides the power of prayer to bring people together. That was the intention when a group gathered in a circle around the outside of Ideal Bakery on Saturday, bowed their heads and lifted up their spirits together before taking off on A Walk for Hope on Sunday afternoon in Cedartown in the second annual march down Main Street.

The event is held in loving memory of Junior, the son of Neidra Chubb. She organized the first walk in 2019, coinciding with others held around the country.

The walk down Main Street from Ideal Bakery to Holloway Park concluded with ceremonies honoring all those children who have lost their lives due to the yet-explained syndrome.

A raffle was held for a Nick Chubb and Sony Michel autograph during the event to help raise money to fight SIDS as well.

Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden and unexplained death of a baby younger than a year old. A diagnosis of SIDS is made if the baby’s death remains unexplained even after a death scene investigation, an autopsy, and a review of the clinical history.

Many times, a baby who seems healthy will suddenly die without warning or cause and without warning signs of any kind. It usually happens when a baby is asleep.

Check back for a video from this event on Youtube later in the evening or come back to this story.
