A Thursday night ceremony gave a longtime Rockmart Police sergeant the opportunity to move up in the ranks after many years of service with the city.
Captain Jeremy Walters received a promotion within the department and officially had a new badge and rank insignia pinned on. His wife took up the duties of pinning on his new badge, and command staff – including Chief Randy Turner – switched out his Sergeant’s rank with new Captain’s bars.
Walters has served as a police officer for 20 years, 15 of those with the Rockmart Police.
He has served as a sergeant for the past 14 years.
“Captain Walters is a highly trained and competent officer with approximately 20 years of service,” Assistant Chief Jonathan Fuller said. “We are fortunate to have him as our Patrol Division Captain.”
