Details remain light about a chase that occurred overnight involving the Aragon Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol, but a suspect was shot and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to investigate.
According to GSP press officials, the Aragon Police Department were in pursuit of a gray passenger car when the pursuing officer requested aid from troopers in the area.
A Trooper from GSP’s Post 3 in Cartersville responded to the area to help, and during the incident was required to “discharge his firearm” and struck the subject.
“The suspect was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition,” the GSP reported.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called into conduct an independent investigation of the incident, and the state’s Department of Public Safety Office of Personal Standard will also conduct their own investigation.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The GBI has been contacted seeking additional information but had not yet responded as of this posting.
